Zurich: Lululemon opens flagship store
Lululemon Athletica is opening a flagship store at Marktgasse 12 in Zurich in July 2016. CBRE advised the company on the lease.
The Canadian yoga sports fashion company Lululemon Athletica rents around 500 sqm on two floors and ancillary space in the historic building in Niederdorf. The owner of the property, which was home to the painting and drawing supplies company Racher & Co until 2001, is an institutional investor.
Lululemon has been represented in Switzerland since summer 2015. At that time, the company, which has annual global sales of over two billion US dollars, opened a showroom on Brunngasse.
The Zurich flagship store will be the second in continental Europe after Hamburg. In cities such as Paris, Amsterdam, Munich and Berlin, Lululemon only has smaller showrooms.
The company made a conscious decision again in favor of Niederdorf and now Marktgasse after the positive experience with the showroom, CBRE informs. Since the redevelopment of the buildings around Elsässerplatz by investors Beat Curti and Hans Jecklin, Marktgasse has become more attractive for retailers and attracted international brands such as COS, Rituals, Desigual, Botanifique and Strellson.
