Lucerne: City wants to re-let buildings in Dreilindenpark
The city of Lucerne is looking for a new tenant for the historic buildings in Dreilindenpark.
Dreilindenpark, also known as "Konsipark" by the locals, is the largest public park in the city of Lucerne with 35,000 square meters. Situated on a hill east of the city center, it offers a wide view into the alpine panorama and over the Lucerne lake basin. The grounds include the castle-like Villa Vicovaro as the main building, an economy building, a gatehouse as well as an artificial gate ruin, marble sculptures and a grotto.
Elenora Cenci, Princess of Vicovaro, had acquired the property in 1890 and had it developed as an English landscape garden according to plans by the architect Edward Heweston. Since 1929, the site has been owned by the city of Lucerne, and the buildings are currently used by the Lucerne School of Music.
Since the university will be moving into a new building on the Südpol site in the fall of 2020 at the latest, the city of Lucerne is issuing an invitation to tender to find new tenants for the premises in the three historic buildings. The city council wants not only the park, but also premises within one or more buildings of the property to be open to the public in the future.
Concepts and offers can be submitted until April 23, 2018. A decision is expected to be made in summer 2018.
