The "Waldhotel" will be built according to the design of architect Matteo Thun and will house 149 rooms and eleven suites, varying in size from 37 to 120 square meters.

Functions of the new Healthy Living Center include diagnostic and medical assessment, weight management and aesthetic dermatology. A spa, fitness and physical therapy areas, and therapy and swimming pools are also part of the facility.

With its exterior appearance, the hotel aims to blend into the forest landscape: This is ensured on the one hand by the intensively planted roof gardens, and on the other hand by facades made of solar control glass, which create the effect of a green forest through reflection. At the end of June 2016, two sample rooms and a sample corridor were already completed; in the meantime, series production of the standard and rehab rooms as well as suites is underway.

Drees & Sommer has taken over construction management for the project and is controlling schedules, costs and quality and is responsible for construction management, commissioning and handover to the client.

The Bürgenstock Resort has been a popular vacation resort and congress destination since 1873. With new hotels, residences and business infrastructure, this long history is now to be continued. (ah)
