First Swiss Intercity Hotel in Rümlang
Deutsche Hospitality - formerly Steigenberger Group - will open the first hotel of its Intercity brand in Switzerland in Rümlang. Under the name Intercityhotel Zürich Airport, the opening is planned for 2020.
According to the hotel company, a long-term lease agreement for the planned Intercityhotel Zürich Airport has been concluded with Patrizier Beteiligungs AG as investor and developer. The consulting company Immo Suisse GmbH from Wollerau acted in an advisory capacity for the sale of the land and the search for users and investors.
The project, designed by the architectural firm Suter + Renner AG, envisages around 260 rooms, a restaurant, a bar and a 450-square-meter conference area. There will also be a spa and fitness area and 150 parking spaces. The interior of the hotel will be designed by Italian architect Matteo Thun in line with the brand's current design generation.
The Intercityhotel Zürich Airport is located directly south of Zurich Airport, conveniently close to Rümlang train station and a short distance from the A1 highway connection. From the location in Flughofstrasse, Zurich International Airport can be reached in ten minutes and Zurich city center in 15 minutes.
"With the Intercityhotel Zürich Airport, we are not only celebrating our brand debut in Switzerland, but also strengthening our presence at airport locations. We are pleased to have gained a reliable partner for this project in Patrizier Beteiligungs AG," says Joachim Marusczyk, Managing Director of Intercityhotel GmbH. According to Gerard van Liempt, CEO of Patrizier Beteiligungs AG, the Intercityhotel Zürich Airport is scheduled for turnkey handover in summer 2020. Like Deutsche Hospitality AG, Patrizier Beteiligungs AG is also on an expansion course - which is why they are planning further joint projects, van Liempt said. Immo Suisse will also be the contact for further expansion in the search for and evaluation of locations, and the architectural firm Suter+Renner for planning.
