SPA takes over hotel project from CS REF Hospitality

The Swiss Prime Investment Foundation (SPA) is acquiring a building lease parcel with the conversion and renovation project of the Hotel Krone in Solothurn. The seller is the real estate fund Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund Hospitality.

However, the transaction still has to be approved by the canton and the city of Solothurn, as the building lenders are the residents' municipality of the city of Solothurn and the canton of Solothurn.

The Krone is one of the oldest inns in Switzerland. The listed hotel is to be converted into a four-star boutique hotel with 28 rooms, including four junior suites. Most of the planning for conversion and refurbishment has been done, SPA says. Construction work began a few weeks ago and will take about 18 months.

In future, the first floor will contain a brasserie and the existing Ambassador room, in addition to the reception area with its lounge and café bar. Externally, the building will retain its structure and be refreshed. The adjacent Leist building will be converted. On the first floor, the sales area will be enlarged, and eight large rental apartments will be created on the floors above.

The hotel will be leased by the Baseltor cooperative, which already runs the hotel of the same name not far from the Krone.

The contract for the conversion and renovation of the Krone was awarded to Graf Stampfli Jenni Architekten AG from Solothurn; the Grego office from Zurich is responsible for the interior design. (ah)
