Vernier: Implenia builds in the "Quartier de l'Étang
Implenia has been commissioned by Bugena SA to build part of the new "Quartier de l'Ètang" in Vernier near Geneva. As total contractor, the company is building around 270 apartments in construction field E.
Over the next few years, the new "Quartier de l'Étang" urban district will be built on an approximately eleven-hectare former industrial site in the municipality of Vernier. More than 1,000 residential units - condominiums as well as rental and student apartments - but also office space, hotels, administrative buildings and a medical center are to be built on seven construction sites. A school, crèche and sports facilities are also planned.
Implenia is acting as total contractor for the construction of a building with around 270 rental apartments on Site E. The contract is worth just under CHF 70 million. Construction is scheduled to start in September of this year.
The new district in Vernier is intended to help alleviate the housing shortage in the canton of Geneva, says Implenia. The site is very well connected to transport and is close to Geneva International Airport. Certification as a 2,000-watt site is being sought for the new district.
