Retail: Sempione Fashion is in serious trouble

Sempione Fashion, the successor to Charles Vögele, is in a "provisional debt-restructuring moratorium". This is to prevent an immediate bankruptcy.

Sempione Fashion, a subsidiary of the Italian clothing retailer OVS, acquired Charles Vögele at the end of 2016. The 140 Swiss stores were converted and adapted to the OVS store concept from 2017.

However, the company has apparently made a mistake: Persistently insufficient sales have led to massive financial bottlenecks, Sempione Fashion reports. The fashion retailer has therefore applied to the Höfe District Court for a provisional moratorium, which has been granted for a period of four months.

During this time, on the one hand, a liquidation sale of the goods is to be carried out. On the other hand, negotiations are also to be conducted on the sale of part of the 140 stores, the provisional administrator Franco Lorandi of the law firm Holstein informs in an information letter.
