Zuchwil: Schaerer extends rental agreement on Riverside site

Coffee machine manufacturer Schaerer extends its lease at the Riverside site in Zuchwil. In addition, the company announces investments in production, among other things.

As it is a Report of the Solothurn newspaper Schaerer extended the lease, including the right of first refusal, for further production and administration areas with Swiss Prime Site Immobilien AG, which is developing the Riverside site.

Schaerer currently employs 345 people; the internationally active coffee machine manufacturer is considered an important employer in the Solothurn region. In future, the company would have a total of 11,300 sqm of production and warehouse space as well as around 3,000 sqm of office space at its disposal in Zuchwil. In addition, the term of the lease has been extended by several years and a right of first refusal has been granted for a further 1,300 sqm, the statement continues.

The former Sulzer industrial site in Zuchwil has changed hands twice since 2007. At the end of 2012, the site was acquired by Swiss Prime Site and transferred to the newly established Swiss Prime Investment Foundation in 2015. The foundation intends to develop the site into a new quarter according to plans drawn up by Kees Christiaanse's architectural firm KCAP. In addition to rental apartments and condominiums, new jobs are also to be created on the Riverside site.
