Riedholz: Attisholz arena is opened

Halter AG took over the former Attisholz cellulose factory a good two years ago and started developing the site. Now the first construction stage has been completed and the arena in the outdoor area of the columned hall has been inaugurated.

Construction work on the outdoor facilities on the Attisholz site in Riedholz (SO) began around six months ago.Visitors can reach the central arena with around 800 seats via a newly laid-out boulevard. The arena, which also serves as a staircase, provides access to the forecourt of the former acid tower and the gravel kiln hall. Storage tanks that were once embedded in the ground here have been removed: their recesses have been repurposed for a children's playground.

With the completion of the first construction stage, the Attisholz canteen also went into full operation, with a lounge and gallery being added to the premises.

With an area of around 16 hectares, the former Attisholz cellulose factory is one of the largest development areas in Switzerland. The site also includes large areas of agricultural land, various groups of buildings with old villas and other buildings on the southern slope of the Aare. (ah)
