Implenia wins major contract in France
Implenia has been awarded a major infrastructure contract in Lyon. A consortium led by Implenia will extend a metro line; the contract is worth CHF 155 million.

The transport association of the Rhône department and the agglomeration of Lyon (SYTRAL) has commissioned the consortium with Implenia and Demathieu Bard, which each hold half of the shares, with lot GC 01 of the extension of metro line B. According to Implenia, the contract is worth around 138 million euros, or the equivalent of CHF 155 million.
According to Implenia, lot GC 01 comprises a tunnel around 2.4 kilometers long, a new metro station in Oullins Centre, and the launch shaft in Saint-Genis-Laval. Metro Line B is expected to be connected through the tunnel to two new stations starting in 2023: the Oullins Centre station and the Saint-Genis-Laval/Hôpitaux Sud station, which is part of Lot GC 02. Construction is scheduled to start in the fall of this year; construction will take around four and a half years.
Implenia's order portfolio in France currently includes two lots of the major Grand Paris Express project in Paris, one lot of the HiLumi project for the European Laboratory of Particle Physics (CERN) in Cessy, and the safety tunnel for the Fréjus Tunnel in Modane. Implenia is working with French partners on all projects. (ah)
