Zurich: PSP rebuilds burned-down houses
PSP Swiss Property will soon start clearing and securing work on the buildings at Bahnhofplatz in Zurich, which were massively damaged in a major fire in August. The existing facades are to be preserved and the buildings reconstructed.

According to PSP Swiss Property, the properties at Bahnhofplatz 1 and Bahnhofquai 9/11/15 are to be rebuilt in their previous appearance. It is assumed that at least the valuable and listed facades can be preserved, according to the real estate company.
First, the crane boom in the courtyard, which was damaged by the fire, will be replaced, then the cleanup work will begin, which is expected to last until February 2019, PSP said. At the same time as the cleanup work, it will be determined in cooperation with the city's historic preservation department which components inside the buildings can be preserved.
The cause of the fire is still unclear, because the investigations on site by the public prosecutor's office, the city police and the cantonal police of Zurich can only be continued once the construction crane in the courtyard has been dismantled and replaced by another one. According to the city of Zurich, however, investigative work by detectives from the city police and fire investigators is currently "running at full speed in the background". (ah)
