His work in this new position relates primarily to expanding Corestate's international network and providing legal advice to group leadership on regulatory issues and global trends, according to a Corestate statement.

Wulff, who studied law, was Minister President of the German state of Lower Saxony from 2003 to 2010. He was also deputy chairman of the CDU from 1998 to 2010. From 2010 to February 2012, Wulff was President of the Federal Republic of Germany. He resigned from this office because he was under investigation on suspicion of accepting an advantage. However, he was acquitted of the charges in 2014.

Christian Wulff's functions since the end of his term as German president include membership of the Transatlantic Council on Migration (TCM) for the integration of migrants and dialogue between members of different religious communities. In the foreign policy arena, he chairs the Euro-Mediterranean Arab Countries Association (EMA) as president. (ah)
