Alexander Muhm becomes new Head of SBB Real Estate
Alexander Muhm will become Head of SBB Real Estate and a member of the SBB Management Board as of January 1, 2019. He succeeds Jürg Stöckli, who will leave the company.

Alexander Muhm (41) has headed the Development division as a member of the Real Estate Division Management Board since 2013 and is also a member of the SBB Real Estate Management Board. Among other things, Muhm has helped shape major railroad station projects such as the Zurich cross-city link or Léman 2030, currently Switzerland's largest rail project in French-speaking Switzerland, SBB says. He also expanded SBB Real Estate's project portfolio and was responsible for innovations such as "Smart City" and Building Information Modeling (BIM), it said. Muhm studied architecture in Vienna, earned a doctorate from the Vienna University of Technology and completed an executive MBA in general management from the University of St. Gallen.
As of January 1, 2019, Muhm will succeed Jürg Stöckli, the current head of SBB Real Estate. Stöckli has headed the Real Estate division since December 2010, and he has successfully developed it into a profitable pillar of SBB, the railroad company said. The 49-year-old decided to leave SBB at the beginning of 2018 after more than eight years on the Management Board to pursue a new career path.
Succeeding Muhm as Head of Development and Member of the Management Board of SBB Real Estate is Susanne Zenker from Lausanne. According to SBB, she has been responsible for complex real estate projects in the early stages of site development in recent years, such as the preparation of the overall perspective for Geneva, the development of the former Wolf freight station in Basel and the development of the track area in Winterthur.
