Kriens: Halter joins Pilatus Arena
Halter AG has joined the planned Pilatus Arena in Kriens as an additional investor and developer. A multifunctional sports and event hall with a shell use is being built.

Halter AG will realize the Pilatus Arena and the residential uses in a joint venture with Eberli Sarnen as total contractor. The two companies have already jointly built the Swissporarena in Lucerne. The third investor for the project in Kriens is still Helvetia Insurance.
Since February 6, the development plan and the partial zone change for the Pilatus Arena have been open for public consultation. According to the project managers, around 410 apartments are planned in the residential area; as things stand at present, there will be 170 owner-occupied apartments and 240 rental apartments. Around 100 of the rental apartments will be designed as modular apartments based on the MOVEment space concept: With movable elements, the living situation can be changed according to time of day and need. Apartments of this type are already under construction in Zurich and Basel, he said.
Residential tower will be slightly higher than initially planned
At the request of the city of Kriens and the LuzernSüd urban planning advisory board, there have been height shifts between the two residential buildings, the statement continues. The building at Mattenplatz will be limited to a height of 50 meters, while the residential tower at Mattenhof station may be up to 110 meters high - initially a maximum height of around 104 meters was planned.
In addition, the hall will have two tiers for the 4,000 spectators instead of just one as envisaged in the architectural competition. With flexible partition walls and retractable spectator tiers, the new Pilatus Arena can also be adapted to the needs of school and university sports.
The public consultation will be followed by parliamentary consideration. If the revised development plan and the partial zone change are then put on public display in November 2019 as planned and no referendum is lodged, the building permit should be available at the end of 2020. Construction would then start in March 2021. The Pilatus Arena would be completed in the 2022/2023 season, and the overall project would be ready for occupation in 2024. (ah)
