Swiss online platform for obstructed material launched
Eberhard Unternehmungen, Losinger Marazzi, Raiffeisen Schweiz, Swiss Prime Site and Swiss Re are strategic partners of Madaster, a new platform for built environment.

The Madaster platform is intended to be a Swiss solution for the realization of resource efficiency in the construction and real estate sector, the companies involved say. It is a non-profit, public online platform that inventories and structures resource-relevant data from buildings and makes it available in material passports. The material passports contain basic information about the quality and origin of the materials used and their current location.
Madaster members can use the data collected to reuse materials. The aim is to close material cycles and avoid wasting resources.
Work has now begun with strategic partners Eberhard Unternehmungen, Losinger Marazzi, Raiffeisen Schweiz, Swiss Prime Site and Swiss Re to define the approach and structure of the online library for built materials, taking into account industry-specific needs and standards in Switzerland, the release continues. Marloes Fischer, initiator and managing director of Madaster Switzerland, said, "I am very pleased that with these relevant companies we have been able to win very strong and committed partners who are pioneers in realizing the Swiss solution for circular economy in the construction industry." He added that the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) also supports the new platform.
Madaster can be used by private individuals, companies and the public sector. Companies can participate in the development of the platform and join the newly founded association. To ensure a sustainable launch in Switzerland, the participation of a representative selection of companies representing the entire value chain of the construction and real estate industry is necessary, the initiators emphasize.
