Zurich: Topping out for The Circle
The co-owners' association of the large-scale project The Circle - Flughafen Zürich AG and Swiss Life - celebrated the real estate topping-out ceremony together with the total contractor HRS.
The Circle, currently Switzerland's largest building construction project, has reached another milestone two years after the foundation stone was laid in March 2017: the four buildings in the core have reached their final height, with the two buildings at the north and south ends to follow in the coming months.
According to the co-owners, Zurich Airport and Swiss Life, construction work is progressing according to plan. The shell of the building is largely complete, and a good half of the 87 lifts have been installed. The piping for the building services control centres is currently being installed.
The façade has also recently become visible: parts of the protective wall of the first building were dismantled from mid-February, the report continues. The protective wall was necessary in particular because of the overhanging buildings against the Ringstrasse - the overhang on the tenth floor is up to 13.5 metres.
The Circle is scheduled to open in 2020. Among other things, there will then be two hotels of the Hyatt Group, a medical centre of the University Hospital Zurich and a congress centre for events with up to 2,500 participants. In addition, various companies have rented office space in the Circle and there will be numerous retail, art, cultural, gastronomic and educational offerings. (ah)
