In 2021, Meininger plans to open the first house in Switzerland in Zurich's Greencity - the foundation stone for the new building was laid only recently.  The opening of another hotel in Geneva is also planned for 2021.

Like Hannes Spanring, CEO of the hotel group, opposite the Handelszeitung saidWe are currently looking at Lausanne, Basel and Bern. And it is not certain that Zurich and Geneva will have to remain with just one operation.

Meiniger currently operates 26 hotels in Europe and turned over 88 million euros (about CHF 100 million) in fiscal 2017/18. The bed occupancy rate was 88%.

Meiniger wants to launch in Switzerland with particularly low prices: A bed in a four- or five-bed room is to cost 25 CHF, a double room from 70 CHF, CEO Spanring told the Handelszeitung. (ah)
