Andermatt: New concert hall is opened
In Andermatt, the concert hall, designed by Studio Seilern Architects and built by Andermatt Swiss Alps and Besix, has now been opened with a first concert.

According to Andermatt Swiss Alps, the Andermatt Concert Hall is the first large, specially designed concert hall in a winter sports resort. The hall has around 650 seats, and the stage provides space for a 75-piece orchestra. Kahle Acoustics and dUCKS scéno, who also designed the Philharmonie in Paris, are responsible for the acoustics and the hall concept.
The Andermatt Concert Hall is the "culmination of Andermatt's transformation into a world-leading year-round destination," Andermatt Swiss Alps added. The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Constantinos Carydis played at the opening.
Samih Sawiris, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Andermatt Swiss Alps, describes the concert hall as the result of his lifelong passion for classical music. "With the opening of our fantastic concert hall by this orchestra, a long-cherished dream comes true for me." The concert hall will give Andermatt an "enormous boost as a tourist destination," he is convinced. (ah)
