St. Gallen: Altenrhein plant facing realignment
In the coming year, Stadler Altenrhein will relocate a large part of its production away from the Altenrhein site. The industrial site will then be realigned.
Wincasa took over the site management, including technical and commercial management, of Werkplatz Altenrhein in St. Gallen in May. The industrial site comprises 110,000 sqm and a leasable area of 55,000 sqm. Anchor tenants include Stadler Altenrhein and 3A Composites Mobility as well as smaller regional companies.
In the coming year, a reorientation of Werkplatz is planned, Wincasa announces. In the future, Werkplatz will no longer be rented out as a purely industrial site, but as a mixed-use site. The background to this is the departure of Stadler Altenrhein. The rail vehicle manufacturer announced in 2018 that it would move a large part of its production to St. Margrethen in 2020.
According to Wincasa, this offers manufacturing and logistics companies the opportunity to rent a large area. Initially, large areas are to be rented out; in a second phase, interested parties with smaller space requirements will be approached.
The site has its own siding to the SBB rail network and is close to the St. Gallen-Altenrhein airport. (ah)
