Winterthur: Red Tower to be upgraded
Wincasa wants to upgrade and revitalize the area around the Red Tower in Winterthur. In the future, it will be called "Turm Areal Winterthur".
The new name Turm Areal Winterthur is intended to give the buildings around the Red Tower a common identity, according to Wincasa. The area, until now mainly used as a passageway, is to become a place to linger.
As a first step, uniform signaling will be installed starting in November and should be fully installed by spring 2020. In the future, the restaurant will be located on the second floor of the Red Tower; it will be open not only to the building's tenants but also to the public. Further, the greening of the inner courtyard is planned. According to Wincasa, the overall construction work should be completed by spring 2021.
The redevelopment into the Turm Areal Winterthur is a project of Wincasa and Swiss Prime Site Immobilien, the owner of the properties. "Winterthur is an important location in which we would like to invest. The area around the Red Tower characterizes
the cityscape of Winterthur and should become more accessible and attractive," says Britta Richli, Asset Management at Swiss Prime Site Immobilien. (ah)
