The Previs Vorsorge pension fund wants to replace its housing estate in the Bostuden quarter in Thun with a new residential development.

Previs Vorsorge owns three building complexes with a total of 72 apartments in the Bostuden district of Thun. The buildings date back to the 1980s, are in serious need of renovation and no longer meet today's requirements. Since, in the opinion of Previs Vorsorge and the city of Thun, renovation is not an option for energy and economic reasons, among others, a new superstructure is to be built on the approximately 8,900 square meter site.

In order to create the planning conditions for the project, the zoning plan in the Bubenbergstrasse and von May-Strasse planning area must be adapted. According to the Statd Thun, new zoning regulations are required for a zone with planning obligation (ZPP), which would allow the construction of three longitudinal building structures, each running parallel to the surrounding streets, with a generous outdoor space in between. The documents for the zone plan amendment will be available for public consultation until the end of January 2020.

Subsequently, the documents will be submitted to the canton for preliminary examination, followed by public circulation. According to the city of Thun, approval of the ZPP is not expected until winter 2020/2021 at the earliest. An architectural competition will determine exactly what the future development will look like. Construction is not expected to start before 2023/2024, the city of Thun adds. (ah)
