Zurich Airport increases commercial revenue
Zurich Airport generated commercial revenue of over CHF 600 million last year.
Commercial revenue in 2019 was CHF601.4 million, according to a statement from the airport company. This corresponds to an increase of 1.3% compared to the previous year. While the increase in the airside area, i.e. for passengers with boarding cards, was 0.4%, the turnover in the landside area rose by 2.6%.
The airport cites the good development of landside shopping, the luxury offering in the passenger area and gastronomy as reasons for the growth. According to its own information, Zurich Airport is the most successful commercial platform in Switzerland.
The number of passengers increased by 1.3% to 31.5 million last year. 22.2 million of these are local passengers. The number of aircraft movements fell by 1.1% to around 275,000 compared with 2018. (ah)
