Trade fair organizer Reed Midem announced on Saturday that Mipim 2020 will take place in Cannes from 2 to 5 June. The reason for the postponement is growing concerns in connection with the coronavirus (Covid-19). Just the day before, Reed Midem had confirmed its intention to hold Mipim as planned.

"The well-being of our customers and employees is our priority. In view of the changing environment, it is best to postpone Mipim until June," Paul Zilk, Chief Executive of Reed Midem, was quoted as saying in a company statement. This decision was not taken lightly, Zilk continued.

In the run-up to the fair, it was reported that numerous companies had canceled their participation for fear of the coronavirus. A total of around 28,000 participants from all over the world had registered for the real estate fair. On Saturday, France banned large events with more than 5,000 people. (ah)
