Kloten: Implenia buys two plots of land

Implenia has purchased two plots totaling 20,000 square meters in the Steinacker area of Kloten. The sites are considered key parcels for the development of the area.

The seller of the properties was the charitable foundation Hans A. Bill, which was advised by Engel & Völkers Commercial Zurich together with HJB Real Estate Consultants in a sales process that lasted around two and a half years. According to the construction group, the Bill Foundation decided to sell to Implenia "primarily due to Implenia's great expertise in the area of site developments." This will enable the foundation to support the city of Kloten's "Vision Steinacker" project in the long term, it says.

The city has been working for years to improve the balance between jobs and housing. The Steinacker area in the east of the city center is seen as an important but underused pillar of urban development. The unbuilt parcels acquired by Implenia have a key function in the transformation into an urban mixed-use area.

In order to further enhance the neighborhood, the canton of Zurich is working on the extension of the Glatttalbahn from Fracht Airport into the Steinacker area and up to the municipal boundary of Bassersdorf. The rail project will also improve flood protection along the Altbach stream, renaturalize its bed, optimize access to the stream, and widen the pedestrian and bicycle path along the stream. Implenia expects the first stage of the area transformation to be completed in 2027, in step with the expansion of the Glatttalbahn. (bw)
