Competition for LUKB project in Emmen decided
The Luzerner Kantonalbank LUKB and Losinger Marazzi want to realize a new building on the A2 site of the Seetalplatz in Emmen (LU). The Metropol project by Scheitlin Syfrig Architekten is to be implemented.

The Seetalplatz in Emmen, formerly a traffic junction, is to become an urban place with offices, commerce, services and housing. The plots of land on the northeast side of the square that are to be built on are owned by LUKB, the municipality of Emmen, private individuals and the canton of Lucerne.
According to the development plan, construction area A2, for which the project competition has now been held, comprises a floor area of around 26,000 sqm. According to a joint statement by Losinger Marazzi and LUKB, around 1,000 sqm of this is earmarked for retail and commercial use on the first floor and 19,000 sqm for offices and services. LUKB plans to relocate its Emmenbrücke office from its current location at Gerliswilstrasse 4 to the head building of the development at the corner of Seetalstrasse and Gerliswilstrasse.
The project is now to be developed further by the fall, and the prerequisites for implementation are to be created in parallel. The building application is to be submitted in the second half of 2021.
In the immediate vicinity of the planned LUKB development are Credit Suisse's 4Viertel project, construction site A1 for the new Cantonal Administration of the Canton of Lucerne (ZVSE) and construction sites B1 to B3 with apartments as well as office, commercial and service premises. The site is very well connected to public transport with a bus terminal in front of the building and the train station with S-Bahn station in the immediate vicinity. (ah)
