Schaffhausen is looking for investors for the town house area
The Stadthausgeviert in Schaffhausen is to be renovated as quickly as possible. To this end, Schaffhausen City Council wants to hand over the northern part of the area to private investors under building rights. The aim is to turn this part of the area into commercial and residential use. The front part with the Stadthaus and Haus Eckstein will continue to be used by the administration.
The Stadthausgeviert has been wholly owned by the City of Schaffhausen since 1979. With the exception of the Stadthaus and the Eckstein building, it is in a poor to very poor structural condition. In recent years, various projects to renovate the Stadthausgevierts have failed, mostly due to financing issues.
According to the city administration, the northern part of the area is particularly suitable for apartments, stores, offices and restaurants due to its small-scale structures. The area is therefore to be handed over to private investors under building rights; the city administration estimates the investment volume for the northern part at just under CHF 20 million.
The southern part with the Stadthaus and the Eckstein property will continue to be used by the administration, optionally supplemented with a new administration building in the current police station with a floor area of 1,790 square meters, which would connect the existing buildings. The investment volume with the new administration building is CHF 13 million, without the new administration building just under seven million. In both variants, a publicly accessible monastery garden will be created in the center. (ah)
