According to Intershop, the project was drawn up by three different architectural firms and envisages the construction of 231 owner-occupied and rented apartments as well as a complementary neighbourhood service. 54 apartments are reserved for affordable housing. The buildings are to be constructed in accordance with the Swiss Sustainable Building Standard (SNBS) and with an energy supply using heat pumps, and "great attention is to be paid to biodiversity", Intershop added.

The AuPark development will provide a natural and varied range of housing with different floor plans and is intended to appeal to different generations. In the centre of the development, a large public park will be created as a connecting element and meeting zone for the population of Au.

According to Intershop, the site is to be developed in stages. Initial demolition work on the interior of the buildings is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2021, with deconstruction planned for the winter of 2021/2022. The first building, including commercial use and park, should be ready for occupation in winter 2024/2025.

The new Zimmerberg Cantonal School will also be part of the development. However, the new building is being constructed by the Canton of Zurich and is therefore not part of Intershop's building application. (ah)
