Chur: City imposes planning zone at train station

As announced, the city of Chur has imposed the planning zone at the train station. The background is the dispute about the redevelopment of the former Globus building.

Axa Winterthur, as the owner of the property directly at the Chur train station, originally wanted to demolish the building and replace it with two new buildings. However, at the beginning of July, the insurer announced that negotiations with the neighbors on the project had failed and that they were therefore planning a complete renovation of the former department store. In September, Axa Winterthur wanted to apply for a building permit for this.

The city government of Chur, however, wants a new building at the entrance to the city; it had already announced in mid-July that it would impose a planning zone at the station if no solution was found. Now the entire city council has spoken out in favor of a planning zone. This means that all building projects are suspended for the time being. As city president Urs Marti told Radio SRF said the feuding parties had since resumed talks. (ah)
