Savognin: Investor for tourism project bails out
The large-scale tourism project in Savognin with adventure pool and hotel at the Barnagn lake area as well as an associated vacation resort in Viols cannot be realized as planned. According to the municipality of Surses, the investor has withdrawn from the CHF 100 million project.

"The detailed planning between project developer, investors and operator could not be concluded promisingly within a useful period of time," writes the municipality of Surses in a statement. Therefore, the Austrian lead investor Manfred Moschner with the co-investors decided to look elsewhere. Moschner still sees the potential of the vacation region and the project positively, but before new talks can be started, the project must be ready for investment.
The municipality of Surses therefore wants to hold on to the major project in Savognin, which is important for the vacation region. In cooperation with the project developer and owner of the land rights, Ueli Feusi of Mufag AG, the project is to be pursued further and made suitable for investors. The first priority is to find an operator and investors. In addition, a structural and conceptual optimization of the project is planned in order to reduce costs.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Surses wants to push ahead with the planning and realization of smaller tourism projects in the region. These include, for example, the already approved project for a four-star hotel with about 70 beds in the Sandeilas area in Savognin, a bike park in the ski area from Somtgant to Tigignas, the expansion of the cross-country skiing center in Rona and a hotel project in the Grava area in Savognin that is currently in the planning stage.
