Bern: Lidl opens branch in Loeb

On 5 August, Lidl Switzerland is opening a new city centre branch in the basement of the Loeb department store in Berne.

Lidl Switzerland occupies a total rental area of 2,000 sqm in the basement of the department store at Spitalgasse 47-51, 850 sqm of which is retail space. More than 2,000 everyday products are on offer. The store is accessible via the three main entrances of the Loeb department store, but also directly via the station arcade.

According to its own information, Lidl has invested around CHF 5 million in the new city centre branch. The renovation work took just under six months and was carried out using the BIM (Building Information Modeling) method. Torsten Friedrich, CEO of Lidl Switzerland, describes the new opening as a "milestone". With the new store in the Loeb department store in Bern, Lidl is opening a branch in a prime location, he said.
