In recent months, the six-story property at Torstrasse 25, the Haus am Platztor, has been completely renovated. The work included the exterior appearance of the property with new balconies, the building services, an energy renovation and the interior remodeling. According to the client's representative and architect Riccardo Klaiber, the aim of the general refurbishment was to technically modernize the building with a view to a variety of uses.

The Haus am Platztor was built in 1964 in place of three smaller old town houses and housed numerous catering establishments, offices, practices and stores as well as the Wegelin bank. Since March 2019, the building was almost empty, and the building shell and building services were getting on in years. After the renovation, there is now a broad mix of uses on the six floors: the two catering businesses "Brüw" and "Kafi Schatz" have rented space on the first floor, the University of St. Gallen occupies the first to fourth floors, and the top floor is rented to students and professionals. "With the new building at Platztor, we have developed a property that harmonizes perfectly with the up-and-coming northern part of the old town," says Florian Meier, Managing Director of Meier & Partner Immobilien AG.
