Building technology: BKW acquires MRI and Inag
The BKW Group is strengthening its Building Services division. The energy and infrastructure company is taking over Marcel Rieben Ingenieure AG as well as the traditional Zurich company Inag-Nievergelt AG.

Inag-Nievergelt AG is one of the leading installation providers in the greater Zurich area in the fields of plumbing, heating and building plumbing and generated sales of over CHF 40 million in the past financial year with around 130 employees. Inag will be added to BKW's network of building technology companies, which now comprises twelve companies with over 500 employees.
With the acquisition of Marcel Rieben Ingenieure AG (MRI), BKW is pressing ahead with the expansion of its building technology planning group. The core competencies of the company, which is headquartered in Liebefeld (Köniz near Bern), include the planning of building and energy technology, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and sanitary systems, building automation, integrated overall planning, smoke and heat extraction systems and fire simulations. MRI has around 25 employees; the company will continue to operate as an independent business under the management of the previous owner.
With the acquisition of MRI, BKW is expanding its presence in the field of building technology planning to the whole of German-speaking Switzerland, according to BKW. In addition to the existing locations of the BKW subsidiaries ahochn and ADZ in Zurich, Basel and Central Switzerland, MRI now also includes the greater Bern area. (ah)
