The owners of the Ahornpark district are the pension fund of the city of Zug, Credit Suisse Investment Foundation and the Zug municipality. The site is to be developed into an attractive residential and working quarter. It is located in the northeast of the city and is part of the Guthirt neighborhood. Today, the site is occupied by a high-rise building dating from 1959 along Baarerstrasse, an older and a newer terraced building with apartments, and the buildings of Zug's maintenance depot and volunteer fire department along Industriestrasse.

The public participation ended in February 2022. In mid-September, the project contributions were presented. The award for Diener+Diener Architekten & Brym was unanimous. "With the consistently implemented idea of elevations on top of the existing buildings and solitary high-rise buildings, the winning project provides the site with an independent identity in a strongly changing environment," reads the justification. The winning project will be further specified in the coming months. According to the city, construction is not expected to start before 2026. (aw)
