Foundation stone laid for hospital extension in Burgdorf
A few days ago, the foundation stone was laid in Burgdorf for a bed building of the Regionalspital Emmental (RSE) AG. The project is part of the overall renovation of Burgdorf Hospital.
In front of the current ward block, a three-story transverse building will be built with 132 acute care beds, 32 more than in the current ward block. The new building will also feature the new hospital reception, outpatient clinics and operating theaters. In addition, the Burgdorf hospital site will in future have six intensive care beds, four intermediate care beds and 18 day clinic beds. Five operating rooms plus two minor surgery rooms will replace the current four operating rooms.
The new building should be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2017, when the current ward block will be converted for inpatient psychiatry. (ah)
