Obwaldner Kantonalbank acquires property in Sarnen North
The Obwaldner Kantonalbank has acquired three unused industrial properties in Sarnen-Nord and wants to position itself again as a real estate investor. Residential and commercial space will probably be created.
Obwaldner Kantonalbank (OKB) is acquiring real estate from Sika Manufacturing AG. The step is part of a new real estate strategy. The aim is to create a generation project that will further strengthen Obwalden as an economic region.
Three properties were sold. These are an industrial building, an undeveloped plot of land and an office building under building lease. Benefits and losses were transferred to OKB as of December 31.
"We want to upgrade the Sarnen North area, revitalize it and make it attractive," says Bank Council President Daniel Dillier. Various variants for possible developments are currently being examined. It is expected that new residential and commercial space will be created.
According to the bank, the new strategy first came to fruition more than six years ago when building land was acquired for the new headquarters in the Feld area. This was followed in November 2021 by the groundbreaking of the Qubo project in Sarnen North, in which OKB is a partner. (aw)
