Geneva: Jumeirah buys Richemond Hotel in Geneva

The international hotel chain Jumeirah from Dubai is buying the Hotel Le Richemond in Geneva. It is the first real estate purchase made in Switzerland by the subsidiary of the state-owned Dubai Holding.

The hotel "Le Richemond" is a traditional Geneva hotel, whose origins date back to 1875. It is located directly on Lake Geneva and has 87 rooms and 22 suites. The property is now to undergo extensive renovation, Jumeirah says. In particular, the company wants to raise wellness and fitness offerings to a new level.

The completion of the work is expected in 2025, when a new "ultra-luxury hotel" will reopen. The combination of summer and winter destination has made the location of Geneva particularly interesting, says the hotel chain from the United Emirates. This is Jumeirah's fifth property in Europe. (aw)
