Thun: Frutiger can realize "Hoffmatte" project
The Federal Supreme Court has rejected an appeal against the "Hoffmatte" housing project. Frutiger is planning 71 apartments and a nursing home for the elderly there.
The project is to be realized on the currently unused land reserve of Hoffmann Neopac AG at Eisenbahnstrasse 71. The plans, which Frutiger drew up together with Hoffmann Neopac and the Wohnen im Alter (WIA) foundation, date back to 2015. Delays caused by the appeal process led to the termination of the project planning contract with the WIA Foundation in November 2022.
After the approval of the City Council in 2019, the population spoke out in favor of the new zone with planning obligation (ZPP) "Hoffmatte" in February 2020. In September 2020, the Cantonal Office for Municipalities and Spatial Planning (AGR) approved the ZPP and the overbuilding regulations. The AGR rejected all objections and the voting complaint. An appeal was lodged against this decision. After the Cantonal Department of the Interior and Justice (DIJ) and the Administrative Court of the Canton of Bern, the Federal Supreme Court, as the fourth instance, has now ruled in favor of the City of Thun and dismissed all points of appeal.
Frutiger now intends to submit the building application for the 1st stage on its own land within the next twelve months. The planned properties can be occupied in 2026 or 2027 at the earliest. (aw)
