Buchs: Building permit issued for HRS high-rise project
In Buchs (SG), the town has granted planning permission for a major HRS project. According to earlier information, over 100 apartments and offices will be built.

The building commission of Buchs (SG) has recently issued the building permit for the "Chez Fritz" high-rise project. The project developer HRS Real Estate AG was able to reach an agreement with the opponents, according to the town. According to earlier reports, 112 apartments and 4,300 square meters of office and commercial space are to be built in the 64-meter-high building. Staufer & Hasler Architekten AG from Frauenfeld designed the plans for the 4,950 square meter site.
The "Chez Fritz" subzone plan was approved at the ballot box in June 2016. The high-rise project then had to undergo a reissue in accordance with the new planning and building law as well as legal proceedings before the St.Gallen Administrative Court. The latter rejected the objections raised as the second instance in October 2022. This decision meant that the planning basis for the new priority zone introduced in the cantonal building law and for the construction of the "Chez Fritz" high-rise became legally binding.
Construction work to begin in 2024
HRS had already submitted the planning application in August 2021. The building application has now been formally approved by the responsible building commission in Buchs. HRS will not start construction until the new year due to existing rental agreements and preparatory work. (aw)
