Bern: Reichenbachstrasse development completed
At Reichenbachstrasse 118 in Bern, a development with 94 affordable rental apartments was built on behalf of the city's land and housing policy fund.

Occupancy of the apartments began in October and almost half of the units are already occupied. The remaining tenants are due to move in at the beginning of December, according to the City of Bern.
The Fund for Land and Housing Policy of the City of Bern has realized the development on the municipal site of the former care training center; with the individual cluster rooms, this results in a total of 104 residential units. All residential units are offered at cost rent, 24 apartments are rented in the "affordable housing with rental criteria (GüWR)" segment. The surrounding area, which will be partly planned by the tenants, will be completed by spring 2024.
The development comprises four buildings grouped around a centrally located courtyard. The development has few cars and is certified as a 2000-watt site. Two of the four buildings are PlusEnergy houses. The housing on offer consists of 2.5 to 5.5-room apartments. Two so-called cluster apartments, each with six rooms, offer space for alternative forms of living. The "Zäme Wohne" residential community run by Insieme Canton Bern for people with and without disabilities was involved from the outset. (aw)
