Implenia builds in Norway
Implenia has won new contracts for several infrastructure projects in Norway. The order volume is more than CHF 65 million.
Implenia has won two contracts in Norway worth a total of around CHF 65 million (546 million Norwegian kroner). These are complex infrastructure projects for the Norwegian Public Roads Authority (NPRA).
New roads, pedestrian and cycle paths, and concrete structures are being built around the town of Skien in the province of Telemark. The project, for which Implenia is responsible, is part of the first phase of a larger urban development project for traffic and environmental design in the Grenland Area, around 130 kilometers southwest of Oslo.
It includes a new 3.5-kilometer, three-lane road that crosses forest areas and agricultural land. In addition, 1.6 kilometers of the existing roads will be rehabilitated. The eight concrete structures to be realized include the Klovholt Bridge with a length of 240 meters, the Kirkebekken Bridge with 126 meters and the Skjelbredstrand Bridge with 80 meters. In addition, limited restructuring and adaptation of the existing road network will take place.
Implenia has won another contract near Bjarkøy outside Harstad. The project involves the construction of four bridges that will connect the islands of Grytøy and Sandsøy. The bridges will run up to 900 meters above the seabed and will be between 44 meters (Tjeldevik Bridge) and 305 meters (Sandsøysund Bridge) long. The project will start in January 2017 and will be completed in summer 2018. The Group has already realized the Tresfjord Bridge for the client in the same region.
