Construction work to start soon on stadium complex in Schaffhausen
The planned construction of a new stadium in the Herblingertal on the outskirts of Schaffhausen will begin this week. A stadium with space for 8,000 visitors is being built for FC Schaffhausen at a cost of around CHF 60 million. The shell is to house specialist markets and service businesses.

The main tenant of the shell section will be the Lipo furnishings store, with additional service providers, offices, restaurants and halls. A large-scale photovoltaic system is planned on the roof. The shell section is scheduled to open in November 2016, with the stadium opening in time for the second half of the season in spring 2017.
The stadium is being financed by Fontana Invest, which is backed by Aniello Fontana, the chairman of the board of FC Schaffhausen AG. The shell part is financed by Methabau.
The previous stadium of FC Schaffhausen has only been provisionally licensed for more than 20 years, as it no longer meets the requirements for infrastructure and safety. (ah)
