The twelve apartment buildings on Wilmisberg in Root (LU) have been completed. Six of them belong to the Abendrot Foundation. They are now fully let and occupied, according to the foundation. The special feature: the residents of the houses are to organize themselves in the form of a shared housing estate. "Shared living arrangements meet an increasing need for less anonymous living and more networking," writes the foundation. The concept includes communal areas. A moderated settlement association aims to bring the residents of the settlement into contact with each other. Both the tenants and the owners of the apartments are automatically members of the settlement association, which organizes the use of the communal areas. The establishment and development of the association is supported by "Siedlungscoaching" from Büro West in Lucerne.

Abendrot acquired the property in Root in 2019. The foundation was awarded the contract as part of a bidding process. According to a statement from Abendrot, the decisive factor was that the specifications of the design plan matched the foundation's own requirements: "In Halter AG, Abendrot has found the ideal project partner, both as a total contractor for the construction of the six rental apartment buildings by Abendrot and for the realization and marketing of the six condominium apartment buildings." The architectural competition for the twelve apartment buildings was won by Dachtler Partner Architekten from Zurich. Construction will begin in June 2022.

The buildings were constructed using solid construction. A timber system construction was rejected for economic reasons - partly due to the hillside location. However, a "scaled timber façade" was implemented, which is intended to blend harmoniously into the landscape.

IB last reported here about the project. (aw)
