Obi takes over Migros DIY stores in full

The 13 DIY stores were previously operated as a franchise by Migros. They have now found a buyer in the German Obi Group.

The German Obi Group is taking over the stores of the DIY chain of the same name in Switzerland, which were previously managed by franchise partner Migros. An additional location in Agno (TI) will be added. The company also announces that it is expanding in western Switzerland by taking over the two large Do-it-+-Garden stores in Carouge and Nyon.

The 13 existing Obi stores are located in Basel, Oftringen, Renens, S. Antonino, Schaffhausen, Schönbühl, St. Gallen, Thun. Volketswil and Winterthur. The stores will be taken over on April 1. The branch in Ticino is currently being renovated and is scheduled to open on May 1. COO Jochen Ludwig will now be responsible for Obi's Swiss national business. (aw)
