AXA IM Real Assets: Isabelle Scemama becomes CEO

Isabelle Scemama has been appointed CEO of AXA Investment Managers - Real Assets. She succeeds Pierre Vaquier, who is leaving the company.

Isabelle Scemama will also join the Management Board of AXA Investment Managers. She was previously CEO of AXA REIM SGP, the French company of AXA IM Real Assets, and was responsible for the funds business, which includes many real estate funds.

Isabelle Scemama has worked for AXA IM Real Assets for 15 years. She joined the firm in 2001, leading the real estate fund structuring and financing practice at the time. In 2005, she launched CRE Loans activities, and in 2013 followed the Infrastructure Finance platform, which saw the launch of a €730 million infrastructure fund at the end of 2016. Scemama started her career at Paribas.

With Scemama's appointment as CEO, a new Management Board was also formed. The Board now includes two new Executive Committee members: Timothé Raully, previously Head of CRE Finance & Core Fund, becomes Head of the Funds Group. Andrew Stainer, currently Head of Northern Region, Asset Management & Transactions, was appointed Global Head of Asset Management.

Ruulke Bagijn will remain Global Head of Real Assets Private Equity, and Sébastien Herzog, Global CFO, COO & Corporate Secretary, will also retain his role. Laurent Lavergne, currently Head of Separate Accounts, will also be responsible for business development in the US and Asia. Dennis Lopez remains CIO and Global Head of Sales, with additional responsibility for global transactions.

The outgoing CEO of AXA IM Real Assets, Pierre Vaquier, wants to take on new challenges outside the company. He worked for the company since 1993, the last ten years as CEO.
