The "Luegisland" site on the eastern outskirts of Gutenswil is to be developed with around 180 new apartments by 2030. The Zurich team of architects BGP Bob Gysin Partner and Lorenz Eugster Landschaftsarchitektur und Städtebau GmbH has now won a project competition for the 34,500 m² site. Ten teams of architects and planners submitted their designs. The task was to harmoniously connect the residential development to the surrounding single-family home neighborhood. The future residential site is surrounded by agricultural land in particular. The area is located on the eastern edge of the municipality and offers a view of Lake Greifensee and the Glatttal valley. The construction project will place great emphasis on biodiversity, social mixing and the creation of a high quality of stay. The area is subject to a design plan obligation.

First apartments likely to be ready in 2030

The owner of the property is the Alsa Pension Fund. It will now work with the authors of the winning study to transform the project into an indicative project. "The municipality has not yet been involved in the competition process, but will be involved in the further development process," writes the pension fund. The design plan process will take two to three years and the first apartments are expected to be ready for occupation in 2030. The realization of the buildings is planned in stages. (aw)
