From a total of 45 applications, seven renowned teams and one up-and-coming office were selected, Pilatus Arena AG announced. These are the ARGE Büro Konstrukt / Enzmann Fischer Partner, the ARGE Masswerk Architekten / Cruz y Ortiz Arquitectos, the up-and-coming team Blättler Heinzer Architektur, the offices BS+EMI Architektenpartner, E2A Piet Eckert and Wim Eckert as well as EM2N, Giuliani.hönger and Marques.

The teams are now to demonstrate how a multifunctional sports and event arena can be realized on the relatively narrow site in Kriens, together with the apartments needed to finance it. "The narrow site and the financing of the arena through shell uses are major challenges for the teams," says Toni Bucher, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pilatus Arena AG.

The planning teams will make statements on volume, density, realization possibilities and exterior design, but also on traffic and access. Based on the results, further planning steps or adjustments will be made if necessary.

Those responsible expect the final result to be available at the end of 2017. The development plan will then be drawn up.
