Construction group Implenia has been awarded a contract by Zurich Insurance Group to redesign its headquarters in the center of Zurich. The construction project will be built over the next few years on a site of around 10,000 square meters at Mythenquai in Zurich.

In the course of the insurer's history, the headquarters has changed again and again and now comprises several buildings from different eras. Zurich launched a competition and a design plan for an overall urban design concept. Implenia, as the total contractor, is now implementing the winning project by Viennese architect Adolf Krischanitz.

Implenia is constructing a new replacement building and restoring three listed buildings from the last century. These will be converted and expanded to meet the future needs of the users. The project will meet the requirements of the 2,000-watt society and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

In addition to the inner-city location, which places high demands on logistics, Implenia says that the monument preservation requirements in particular are a challenge. Construction will start at the beginning of May 2017 and is expected to last until spring 2020.
