Mobimo and HRS are building a mixed-use development with five buildings and publicly accessible open spaces, known as Mattenhof I, based on plans by Lucerne-based architects Scheitlin Syfrig Architekten. Together with Mattenhof II, around 300 rental apartments, over 20,000 square meters of office space, 7,000 square meters of commercial and restaurant space and a "Holiday Inn Express" city hotel with 160 rooms are being built.

Once completed, the district will form the center of Lucerne South, one of the major development focal points in the Lucerne region and located on the border between the municipalities of Kriens, Horw and Lucerne. In an area previously dominated by industry and commerce, buildings with apartments and workplaces for up to 15,000 people are being constructed. Mattenhof I, which is scheduled for completion in winter 2018/2019, marks the start of further development in the area.

In addition to Swisscom, which will occupy five floors and a total of 7,500 square meters of space with around 400 employees, Migros and Lucerne Cantonal Hospital, for example, will also be present in Mattenhof: Migros is opening a 600 sqm neighborhood store, and the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital is planning a health center. A hairdressing salon, an Asian restaurant and a travel agency are also among the tenants of the commercial space. Marketing of the apartments will start next year.
