Groundbreaking ceremony for "Valsana" project in Arosa
On September 7, the traditional groundbreaking ceremony was held for the "Valsana" project in Arosa. The new building, which will include a hotel, apartments, a Coop store and underground parking, is scheduled to open in the fall of 2017. It is currently the largest construction site in Graubünden.

The general contractor is Implenia, and the owner is the Tschuggen Hotel Group, which also operates the Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa and other hotels in Ascona and St. Moritz.
On the site of the now demolished "Valsana" sports hotel at the entrance to the village of Arosa, three buildings are being built set back from the road, slightly elevated on the site. In addition to the hotel with 50 room units, a house with ten apartments is being built. A 700-square-meter Coop sales outlet with parking garage is planned for the basement. The existing tennis hall will remain part of the hotel offer.
The site is being designed by the architectural firm Mooser Lauber Stucky, with wood and stone being the main materials used. The shell of the building is to be completed in summer 2016, followed by the interior finishing work, so that the new "Valsana" can be opened on schedule in fall 2017. (ah)
