Lucerne South: Study contract for "Nidfeld" is decided
Losinger Marazzi and Coop Immobilien are planning a new quarter in the "Nidfeld" in Lucerne South. The well-known architectural firm Christ & Gantenbein from Basel won the study contract for the project.
Losinger Marazzi and Coop Immobilien are developing a superstructure on the currently fallow 42,000 sqm "Nidfeld" site, which is to become the focal point for the major urban development project Lucerne South.
From 2021, the development is to offer around 500 apartments, office and service space, and an Aquafit health center with hotel, with a total usable area of around 80,000 square meters. A study contract was launched for this in November 2016, which has now been won by the office of Christ & Gantenbein Architekten from Basel.
The architects' design impressed the jury with, among other things, "virtuoso architecture, well-dimensioned open spaces and a diverse range of apartments," according to a media release from Losinger Marazzi and Coop Immobilien.
The development proposal also succeeds in optimally integrating the planned Prodega-Transgourmet commercial building. The breaking up of the overall ring-shaped figure, which consists of buildings of different depths, makes it possible to divide the high-rise buildings into various construction stages of different sizes, it continues. A mixture of permeable commercial and studio units, access situations and mezzanine apartments also promises attractive, lively and identity-creating spaces.
